General League Rules

Since 1991, Bill Bolton Arena has offered Adult Hoouse League players the opportunity to play in a community based, low-key, non-contact, recreational and social house league designed for ALL skill levels. 

·         Hockey Canada Rules apply except where otherwise stated

·         Stop Time: Last 2 minutes of a game if within two goals

·         Roster Size: Minimum Six (6) including Goalie or 6 Players if without a goalie

·         Default: Team short the 6 team members is in default and is automatically a 1-0 forfeit.

·         Substitutions: only permitted in a DECLARED default game.

·         Icing: Icing must originate behind the offending team’s own blue line, NOT the red line. No line change restrictions on icing.

·         Penalties: Any player penalized for 5 minutes or more will incur a Game Ejection. Each subsequent ejection will result in an additional one game suspension.

·         Stick Infractions: cross-checking, high sticking and slashing are automatic double minors (4 minutes)

·         Slap Shots: Are NOT permitted in the 35+ Women’s League. They are allowed in all other adult leagues.

·         Gross Misconduct: Match penalties or fighting penalties will result in immediate suspension from the league with no refunds issued to suspended players.

·         ‘Unsportsmanlike play’ or ‘Unacceptable Conduct’ may result in suspension or expulsion from the league without compensation for the player. The program reserves the right to eject overly aggressive players from the adult house leagues whose style of play is counter to the spirit of an all-skills level, recreational house league.

·         Goalies: The Arena does not provide funds for ‘rent-a-goalie’ but does provide equipment for league players to suit up when a goalie is absent.

·         Jerseys: Home and Visitor jerseys are provided for the Winter Leagues. Any refunds are held until jerseys are returned to the arena.

·         Players: Must have a completed league registration profile, play on their assigned team and wear the current, league-issued jerseys.

·         No Team Entries: Individual league registrations with only ONE reciprocal placement request.

·         Minimum Age: must be reached in calendar year of registration in the league (goalies are exempted but must be at least 18 years or older)’

·         Equipment: Full equipment is required. Full facial protection is strongly recommended, half visors are the minimum required.
